Send off letter for Daniel with appreciation for all he has done for Flower Hill and our continuation of his efforts
Dear Flower Hill Community,
We want to share with you that Flower Hill Executive Director Daniel Ronan has completed his contract at the Flower Hill Foundation. We wish Daniel well and thank him for all of his hard work. Daniel plans to focus his efforts on his consulting business Resilient Heritage, work on his Masters at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin, and take on his new role as Chair of the Austin Tourism Commission in 2023-2024.
I first met Daniel in January of 2022 when we sat down for a coffee. Instantly I knew he had big plans for Austin! His passion for historic preservation, extensive knowledge of historic tax credits, future-forward thinking around home museums, and his quest to understand the inner workings of his new home city was very apparent.
Daniel came to us from Chicago, bringing with him the tremendous skill and energy that he poured into the Foundation and the legacy of Miss Jane Smoot. In just ten months, Daniel helped us secure over $250,000 in grants and tax credits for the museum and oversaw the competition of the new roof, setting up Flower Hill for a productive future! He facilitated a well-attended Open House event in January, that helped us re-open our doors after the pandemic and reconnect with our community.
We will continue his efforts with the historic garage restoration and rehabilitation project funded by the City of Austin's Heritage Preservation Grant and complete the forthcoming Collections Assessment for Preservation Report, which will take a closer look at organizing Flower Hill's extensive collections.
We plan to hire a new Executive Director later this year to continue this momentum. In the meantime, we continue to welcome new friends, supporters, and board members to assure Flower Hill’s long-term sustainability. We appreciate your ongoing support and look forward to keeping you engaged in our work.
