CAPping off 2022: Flower Hill Foundation Receives Prestigious "CAP" grant from the Foundation for Advancement in Conservation in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services

The Flower Hill Foundation is one of 56 institutions across the United States to receive a grant from the Foundation for the Advancement in Conservation's Collections Assessment for Preservation (CAP) program, a joint program of the Foundation and the Institute of Museum and Library Services. This $8,000 matching grant will fund two assessors, Mary Kay Judy of New York, NY, and David Rasch of Santa Fe, NM, who will visit Flower Hill to assess the state of the collections in addition to the main house and five extant outbuildings on site.

The CAP program provides an opportunity for the Flower Hill Foundation to strategically assess the Foundation's collections, including the environment in which these collections are housed, exhibited, and interpreted. This assessment will provide a basis upon which to make long-term conservation and preservation decisions and appropriate investments.

The CAP program is a 1:1 challenge grant, and we are looking for donors to match the $8,000 to build out this robust assessment. Would you like to support this critical work to steward the future of Flower Hill? You can donate below to help match this critical project. Thank you for your generous support and celebration of the Smoot family and Flower Hill  history!

As we reflect on this year, I want to personally thank you for welcoming me as Flower Hill's new executive director. I look forward to meeting many more of you in 2023 at the Community Open House on January 28th. On behalf of the board of directors and myself, we are so grateful for the energy and passion you bring to our mission to "inspire, and engage the diverse Austin community of today and tomorrow." We cannot do this work without you.

Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Daniel Ronan

Executive Director
